Foothill Conservancy: 2020 Mokelumne River Cleanup -Sat Oct 24

Foothill Conservancy announces the 2020 Mokelumne River Cleanup on Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 am until noon. The event will focus on the Mokelumne Electra Run south of Jackson, the most popular section of the river. The annual, family-friendly event gives people an opportunity to protect the Mokelumne’s water quality and clean up recreational sites while enjoying a beautiful morning along California’s 15th state wild and scenic river. The Foothill Conservancy has been conducting annual river cleanups since 1991.

“The Mokelumne River Cleanup volunteers remove trash and recyclables from the river. Every year they share the satisfaction of making our river enjoyable and safe for all, from the wildlife that live there to the people who enjoy the river for fishing, swimming, picnicking and paddling.” said Carolyn Schooley, cleanup coordinator.

All participants must register in advance by going online to www.foothillconservancy.org (see event calendar) or by calling Carolyn at 209-223-3508. Volunteers under 18 are welcome, but must have adult supervision, and their liability releases must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Liability releases can be found on the Foothill Conservancy website.

Volunteers should wear sturdy boots and long pants, and bring work gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and a filled water bottle. Coffee and water will be provided. No pets or alcoholic beverages, please. Due to the pandemic, we are requiring all volunteers to follow masking and social distancing protocols and team assignments will be made based on households. Additional information will be provided to registered participants prior to the cleanup.

Foothill Conservancy of Jackson is the leading conservation organization involved in protecting and restoring the upper Mokelumne River and led the successful effort to secure California Wild and Scenic River designation for 37 miles of the river in 2018. The Conservancy continues to pursue river conservation, smart water planning and watershed restoration efforts in our area.

For more information, contact Carolyn at 209-223-3508 or Carolyn@foothillconservancy.org.

AmadorArts: Winefest! Thank you for your past attendance!

YOU CAN SAVE THE ARTS TODAY!

And SAVE THE DATE for Winefest 2021 on November 13th.

We truly appreciate your past support and attendance!

Winefest is the primary fundraiser for AmadorArts and because of COVID-19, we have been forced to cancel Winefest 2020. Without those funds, we cannot receive the "Arts Council Grant" that is designated for Amador County; funds that bring you free art classes, free concerts, Open Mic nights, at-home art, artist resources, arts scholarships, exhibitions, murals, and more.

Cancelling Winefest means a loss of over $45,000 from that event alone!

To date, COVID-19 has caused $85,000+ in lost revenue for AmadorArts.

Can you make a donation today to save AmadorArts?

We are focused on keeping the arts central to Amador County life even during a disaster. Your help today means The Arts will remain central to our county way of life. Your support today means Winefest can return in 2021.

Artfully yours,

Amador County Arts Council board, volunteers, and staff

Please keep these colorful images in mind
and the wonderful time we all have at this event!
