AmadorArts Needs Eight Student Art Directors

Here is a great opportunity for Youth Artists and Creatives to get experience and have fun with the arts. The Amador County Arts Council, aka AmadorArts, a leading non-profit organization in the county for 38 years, is seeking young people to be on the volunteer Board of Directors as Student Art Directors, two each from the high schools of Amador, Argonaut, Independence, Homeschool (Mountain Oaks or other). This group of eight will work together to keep the arts central to Amador County life.

Those selected will be leaders in creating Cultural Arts programs, advising council decisions, Poetry Out Loud outreach and engagement, and beautifying Amador County with creative projects. They will also have opportunities in Advocacy, Presentations, Exhibits, targeted Arts Mentoring tailored to their unique interests, and Training, including convenings with other Youth Arts Leaders across the country.

Since AmadorArts is an interdisciplinary organization, all types of Youth Artists are welcome to apply. The fields are broad: Culinary, Maker, Visual, Media, Literary, Theatre, Dance, Music, Fashion, Industrial...etc.

Applicants need to submit a Letter of Interest and a Letter of Recommendation from a teacher or non-familial adult mentor. Complete applications will be followed-up with a mentorship chit-chat with the Executive Director and past student director(s). The Decision Support Tool as provided by the California Arts Council, will be used to keep the Racial Equity Lens central to the process.

The chosen candidates will then sign the Student Art Director agreement and will receive a permission form for their Parent/Guardian to sign.

Amador County Arts Council is an Equal Opportunity, Anti-Racist organization committed to the equitable representation of all cultures, specifically those that have been historically marginalized including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, Disabled, LGBTQAI+, Foster, Immigrant, Veteran, Returned Citizen, Recovery, Unhoused, and Isolated-Rural communities.

This activity is supported in-part by the California Arts Council, a state agency. Find out more are arts.ca.gov  Application deadline is: OPEN UNTIL FILLED, but don’t delay. Why wait when you may be able to start this fun opportunity soon!
