CAMINO,CA – The Amador- El Dorado Unit of CAL FIRE will be conducting a prescribed live training burn on the Amoruso Ranch Vegetation Management Project (VMP) in the community of Fiddletown. Dependent upon any restrictions set forth by the Amador
County Air District and favorable fire weather conditions, this burn will commence from 9:00 A.M. until approximately 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Smoke may be visible in the area.
The purpose of the burn is to train new firefighters from CAL FIRE in a controlled fire environment for preparation of peak fire season. Training burns are imperative for fire fighters to learn how to properly conduct fire suppression techniques as well as learn to keep themselves safe in an actual wildfire. This burn will also add to the fuel break within the Amoruso Ranch, reducing the chance of devastation resulting from a catastrophic wildfire to nearby communities.
If the burning conditions become unfavorable for a safe, efficient burn, operations will be immediately stopped.
As with all CAL FIRE controlled burns, this project will be evaluated the day of the burn utilizing a Go/No Go checklist that is based on weather and incident activity.
