We are so very sorry for not posting of late. But be assured you have weighed heavily in our thoughts and prayers. As with all of you, we have been having a hard time grappling with the multitude of issues and impacts as a result of COVID-19. Quite frankly, we have been at a loss for words because it has been too overwhelming to think of just what to say exactly to capture and convey all our concerns and regards for all we love and hold dear. And, for those who we don't know but want to share our regards and concerns for nevertheless.
To update you on our current plans and activities, we have decided to postpone all our shows through May 2020 as now is the time to put the health and safety of our people first. Our plan is to reopen on June 19, 2020 with the Rita Hosking Trio. Many of our shows are now rescheduled so check our website at this link Sutter Creek Theatre
and our Facebook Event Page at this link Sutter Creek Theatre facebook page for updates. Work continues for new dates for the remainder of shows previously scheduled through May 2020. Please remember the bands are having to coordinate and reschedule multiple venues and dates besides us.
WE HAVE RESCHEDULED Rita Hosking Trio (6/19), Kevin Russell (6/20), Lacy J Dalton (7/11), Boys of Summer (8/28), Tempest (11/7), and Paul Thorn (12/15). See more about those shows below.
On another note, as we were celebrating our much needed rain, we sprung some leaks in the roof so these are being repaired. We also plan to fix the damage caused by rain to the inside of the theatre. So for some good news, we are redirecting our current energies towards "sprucing up" our historic gem a bit for when we do reopen.
So much more could be said, but from this point forward we promise to stay in touch regularly as we see our way through these unprecedented times. We are committed to our 17-year heritage of preserving the historic Sutter Creek Theatre and presenting fine music and other performing arts in the Sierra Foothills.
We dearly miss all the joy, passion, and happiness your bring to our lives and look forward to the day we are together again.
Laura and Byron Damiani

Rita Hosking sings of forest fires, culture clash, dishes, rivers, black holes and hope. An award-winning and prolific songwriter characterized as "here and now" by The Observer, her stories, songs and soul-stirring, country-folk voice are partnered with longtime collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Sean Feder on dobro, banjo and guitar. Together, they deliver what Acoustic Magazine calls "timeless, unhurried elegance."
Rita's style of country-folk has been lauded for story and sense of place, and her performances praised with capturing the audience. "This California girl comes by her mountain music sensibility with true authenticity, with original songs deeply rooted in her family's frontier experience," (Dan Ruby, FestivalPreview.com) and her fans call her "the real deal." A descendant of Cornish miners who sang in the mines, Rita grew up with deep regard for folk music and the power of the voice.
Rita began recording and publishing in 2005 and has seven studio albums to her credit. Come Sunrise won Best Country Album Vox Pop in the 2010 Independent Music Awards, and Burn was placed in the "Top 10 Young Female Artist Releases for 2011" by No Depression Magazine. The album (and multi-media project) was awarded a "splendid" five stars from the Telegraph, and called "one of Americana's finest concept albums" by the Observer.
Her latest work, a 2018 album titled For Real, was called "her best yet" by legendary bluegrass DJ, Eric Rice of KVMR.
Sean Feder plays dobro, banjo, various guitars, percussion, and sings with Rita as her primary accompanist. His three decades of music performance have been eclectic with a strong penchant towards everything rooted in rhythm. His music career includes collaborative performance and recording projects with several notable rhythmic and melodic masters, such as Arthur Hull (Village Music Circles), Hershel Yatovitz (of Chris Isaak), and Joe Craven. Nominated Blues Music Awards 2018 Blues Guitarist of the Year. Blues Blast Magazine Annual Awards Committee has nominated Chris Cain as Male Blues Artist of the Year and his self-titled album, Chris Cain, as Best Contemporary Blues Album of the Year in their annual awards.
Cain's debut recording, Late Night City Blues (Blue Rock'it Records-1987) garnered four W.C. Handy Blues Award nominations, including Guitarist of the Year. Dan Forte of Guitar Player wrote, "An impressive debut album by a top notch guitarist."
Chris Cain offers up a soulful stew of Memphis style electric blues. His powerfully deep vocals and jazz inspired, blues guitar riffs are unforgettable; uniquely his own, while reminiscent of the legendary BB King and Albert King. As a child, Chris Cain attended concerts with his dad to hear many of the great blues artists of the time. When Cain burst onto the blues scene in 1987 with his award winning debut album, he soon found himself sharing the stage and trading licks with a few of those legends, including Albert King and Albert Collins. Chris Cain has released a dozen albums, each filled with soul-stirring songs pulled from his own blues drenched heart. His brand of blues is unforgettable.
AND his band has some awesome pedigrees as well:
Greg Rahn has played keyboards with a diverse range of artists from latin jazz greats Ray Obiedo, Pete Escovedo, Juan Escovedo and Roger Glenn to rock guitar legend Ronnie Montrose and blues guitar hero Chris Cain.
San Francisco Bay Area musician Steve Evans is one of the most sought after bassists because of his ability to adapt his playing technique across a wide spectrum of musical genres. He has backed numerous icons of R&B including Etta James, Bo Diddley, Mary Wells, Charlie Musselwhite, Big Mama Thornton, Tracy Nelson, Lee Dorsey. Pee Wee Ellis, The Drifters, and rock artists Bob Weir & Kingfish, keyboardist Brian Auger, Joan Baez, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Maria Muldaur, Swiss pop star Phil Carmen (featuring Dire straits drummer Pick Withers) and more. Steve has recorded and/or toured nationally and internationally with numerous guitar greats including slide guitar virtuoso Roy Rogers, Pat Travers, Harvey Mandel, Coco Montoya and more.
Most people know drummer Mick Mestek for his work with Tower of Power, with whom he toured for three years and recorded the 1987 album "Power". But his resume certainly doesn't end there. Among Mick's many touring and recording credits include Etta James, Tracy Nelson, Buddy Miles, Pete Escovedo, Charlie Musselwhite, Omega, blues guitarists Tommy Castro, Daniel Castro, Ron Thompson, Roy Rogers, bassist/producer Curtis Ohlson, R&B singer Rosie Gaines, guitarist/composer Ray Obiedo and a who's who of Bay Area favorites including The Hoodoo Rhythm Devils, Tortilla Soup and Manzo.
