The Sugaray Rayford Band - Grammy nominated premier Soul Blues vocalist
Saturday March 7, 7 pm
$27 Advance / $31 Day of show
"Sugaray" Rayford is an American Soul blues singer and songwriter. He has released Six albums to date and was nominated for two Blues Music Awards in 2019 - Soul Blues Male Artist and B.B. King Entertainer of the Year. HE WON SOUL BLUES MALE ARTIST OF THE YEAR! His last album (2019) is nominated for a 2020 Grammy.
Sugaray formed his own band in 2010, and it includes keyboards, trumpet, and sax.
When Sugaray belts out a song, you not only hear it, you feel it. The excitement in the room is palpable when he takes the stage; he is a superb vocalist and entertainer. His dynamic voice is large just like the man. With his old school vocal style, echoes of Muddy Waters, Otis Redding and Teddy Pendergrass can be heard. At 6'5" he is a big man, but he moves with grace and energy. His fluid dance steps will remind you of the Legendary James Brown.
Texas born Caron "Sugaray" Rayford began his musical career at the age of 7 singing & playing drums in church, and his gospel influence can be heard and felt in his music. Rayford's phrasing is intimate and conversational and the soulful gravel in his voice hints at his firsthand experience with hardship.
Beginning about 15 years ago in the San Diego area, he sang lead vocals with a R&B/Funk band called Urban Gypsys. With this band he had the privilege of sharing the stage with many notable artists such as The Average White Band, Dennis Quaid, Joe Luis Walker, Kal David, Super Diamond & Venice, to name a few.
After some soul searching he left the Urban Gypsys and became lead vocalist for Aunt Kizzy'z Boyz, a Temecula area blues band. Aunt Kizzy'z Boyz represented San Diego (Blues Lovers United San Diego) in Memphis Tennessee January 26th- 28th, 2006 at the International Blues Challenge (IBC), and brought home the 2nd place prize. The band began playing higher profile gigs and in 2007 released their 2nd CD "It's Tight Like That". In September 2008, the Boyz won the LAMN Jam Grand Slam Urban Artist of the Year title by a landslide; they beat out hundreds of competitors.

Red Voodoo, originally a Van Halen tribute band based out of Sacramento, California, soon realized that with their collective talent they could write original songs that people both old and young will love. They are inspired by the sounds of Van Halen and strive to bring back that rock and roll sound to the masses.
Composed of band members Dino McCord (vocals), Davin Loiler (guitar/background vocals) Andrew Edwards (bass/background vocals) and Nick Pesely (drums/percussion), this group of talented young men (ages 17-21) is helping to bring rock and roll back to their generation!
Tempest - Celtic rock - Lief's annual birthday bash!
Saturday March 21, 7 pm
$22 Advance / $25 Day of show
Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy Folk Rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements. The last 30 plus years have seen the San Francisco Bay Area based act release seventeen critically acclaimed CDs and play more than 2,500 gigs. It's also enjoyed an evolving line-up that's enabled musicianship and creativity to rise with each new member.
Hailing from Oslo, Norway, founding member and lead singer/electric mandolinist, Lief Sorbye, is recognized as a driving force in the modern folk-rock movement. He started Tempest after years of touring and recording on the folk circuit. Newcomer, San Francisco native fiddler Lee Corbie-Wells, comes to the band with a special passion for Celtic and Scandinavian music and Gaelic language traditions. A touring and performing child of a musical family, she plays fiery traditional fiddle tunes, and is also known to keep a bit of Blues and folk improvisation up her sleeve. And straight from Bologna, Italy, we welcome the big, rich bass playing talent of Mirco Melone. Mirco has a diverse background in rock, jazz and ethnic music, and holds an advanced degree from Italy's Classical Music Conservatory. And recently relocated to the Bay Area from Chicago, we are delighted to introduce Kevin Florian's progressive rock guitar and lush stage antics to our fans! Cuban-born drummer Adolfo Lazo, an original Tempest member, thickens the band's sound with inventive rhythms, and rock-steady drumming.
Signed to Sony-distributed Magna Carta Records, Tempest's releases are acclaimed worldwide. This year, the group celebrates its 30th Anniversary with the latest studio CD, Thirty Little Turns, a collection of inspired new original and traditional material -- with a cheeky surprise or two.
Tempest is regularly featured at prestigious festivals such as The Philadelphia Folk Festival, and has also appeared at Denmark's Skagen Festival, Britain's Cropredy Festival and The Winnipeg Folk Festival in Canada. The band is a mainstay at countless American Celtic festivals, as well.

Rita Hosking - Award winning original Country-Folk
Saturday March 28, 7 pm
$19 advance / $22 day of show
Rita Hosking sings of forest fires, culture clash, dishes, rivers, black holes and hope. An award-winning and prolific songwriter characterized as "here and now" by The Observer, her stories, songs and soul-stirring, country-folk voice are partnered with longtime collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Sean Feder on dobro, banjo and guitar. Together, they deliver what Acoustic Magazine calls "timeless, unhurried elegance."
Rita's style of country-folk has been lauded for story and sense of place, and her performances praised with capturing the audience. "This California girl comes by her mountain music sensibility with true authenticity, with original songs deeply rooted in her family's frontier experience," (Dan Ruby, FestivalPreview.com) and her fans call her "the real deal." A descendant of Cornish miners who sang in the mines, Rita grew up with deep regard for folk music and the power of the voice.
Rita began recording and publishing in 2005 and has seven studio albums to her credit. Come Sunrise won Best Country Album Vox Pop in the 2010 Independent Music Awards, and Burn was placed in the "Top 10 Young Female Artist Releases for 2011" by No Depression Magazine. Her 2013 release, Little Boat, was selected by the Telegraph as one of the "Top Ten Country Albums of 2013." In late 2015, Rita released a concept album based on a hero's journey called Frankie and the No-Go Road. The album (and multi-media project) was awarded a "splendid" five stars from the Telegraph, and called "one of Americana's finest concept albums" by the Observer.
Her latest work, a 2018 album titled For Real, was called "her best yet" by legendary bluegrass DJ, Eric Rice of KVMR.
Sean Feder plays dobro, banjo, various guitars, percussion, and sings with Rita as her primary accompanist. His three decades of music performance have been eclectic with a strong penchant towards everything rooted in rhythm. His music career includes collaborative performance and recording projects with several notable rhythmic and melodic masters, such as Arthur Hull (Village Music Circles), Hershel Yatovitz (of Chris Isaak), and Joe Craven. Sean ably serves the groove and melody in order to reveal and kindle the spirit of the music.
