AWA: Public water supply is safe from Coronavirus

SUTTER CREEK, CA - Amador Water Agency reminds the public that the coronavirus (or COVID-19) has no impact on the quality or supply of your domestic drinking water (tap water). We want to reassure our customers that your tap water remains safe to drink.

According to the Center for Disease Control, conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection, such as those in Amador Water Agency drinking water systems, remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

The Center for Disease Control also has this information on the safety of public drinking water and wastewater systems:
At this time, the risk of transmission of the virus that causes COVID-19 through sewer systems is thought to be low. Though transmission of COVID-19 through sewage may be possible, there is no evidence to date that this has occurred.

There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs.
