Mt. Zion Church - Fri Sept 6
This Sunday – Pastor Jimmy Newman
Genuine faith will inevitably produce good deeds. This is the central theme of James’ letter, around which he supplies practical advice on living the Christian life. With energetic style and crisp, a well-chosen word, James confronts the conflict head-on. It’s not enough to talk the Christian faith, he says, we must live it! “What good is it my brothers and sisters if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such a faith save them?” (James 2:14) The proof of the reality of our faith is a changed life.
New Series Beginning Sunday, September 13th!
Big Idea of the Series:This four-week series examines the command to “Love your neighbor as yourself” and its uses throughout the Bible. Loving others isn’t easy. It requires selflessness and intentionality. Starting in the Old Testament, and moving through the Gospels and Paul’s letters, this series looks at how God expects us to fulfill this command today.
2019 Men’s Retreat!
Join the Men for “Engage – The Whole Man” September 19-21 – Murphy’s CA Cost is just $35 Per Person. Sign up at the Information Table in lobby.
New Adult Bible Study Wednesdays, "James – Faith That Works” - The purpose of this study is to help you face squarely James’s call for a consistent Christian life, for a practical faith. We seek to do this through nine studies each covering about half a chapter each. This may not seem like much, but James’s proverb-like compactness calls for it. You may not necessarily like James when you finish. But it is our prayer that through it God will give you a faith that works. Join us at 6:30 PM at the Ministry House.

The next EPICS Potluck is September 26, at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The theme is "picnic" with attendees asked to bring cold cuts and the makings for sandwiches. A few salads wouldn't hurt either.
