Sutter Creek Music Scene Carries On with Sway Wild
SUTTER CREEK, CA - Friday, September 20 at 7 pm Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer together as Sway Wild will play at Feist Wines in Sutter Creek, California. The winery hosts music on a regular basis and offers farm to fork wood fired pizza.
Sway Wild’s songs navigate the corners of rock, folk, pop, jazz, prog, and funk. Fer and McGraw’s harmonies paired with moving lyrics share their jubilation, grief, and frustration with a complex and deeply imperfect society.
McGraw and bass player Thom Lord met as wildlife biologists. The two provide unwavering support for Fer’s formidable musicianship.
In the making of their latest album, Fer and McGraw departed from their established acoustic approach, each returning to the instruments on which they began their respective musical trajectories as teenagers. With Fer refocused on electric guitar, McGraw behind a drum kit for the first time in over a decade, and Lord on electric bass, the trio rediscovered everything they loved about making music. This gave birth to a creative torrent of new songs, and the trio emerged as a fully formed band, organically and unexpectedly, with a sound transformed. With a fresh sense of purpose, the new material was honed on tours across the U.S. and in Europe.
Known as a standout electric guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Mandy Fer is unafraid to dominate the stage. Dave McGraw’s emotional songwriting riffs on natural elements of the world around him.
Parade Magazine says of Sway Wild, “Grooving…wistful, driving, and a masterful combination…velvety vocals over staccato guitar and light percussion capture your attention.”
Tickets are $15 for general admission and are available at the tasting room or at feistwines.com. The winery offers to fork wood fired pizza, artisan cheese and charcuterie plates and desserts. Wine is available by the glass or bottle.
