Breathe Deep Amador Fundraiser: Crazy Hat/Hair 5K Fun Run/Walk - Sat Sept 28

Crazy Hat/Hair 5K Fun Run/Walk to Support Lung Cancer Research

SUTTER CREEK, CA – On Saturday, September 28, 2019, the third annual Breathe Deep Amador 5K Fun Run/Walk will feature a new twist—crazy hats and hair!

Breathe Deep Amador originated in honor of Len Jagoda who lost his fight with lung cancer in 2011. This year, in memory of Len’s love of crazy hats, the event will be a Crazy Hat/Hair event.  Participants are encouraged to wear their craziest hat or hairdo to celebrate all those who are living with or have been lost to lung cancer and to support the LUNGevity Foundation.

The event will once again be held at the Italian Picnic Grounds, 581 CA-49, Sutter Creek, CA 95685.  Registration for the event costs $25 for adults, $15 for Seniors 60+, $15 for Student with valid ID, $10 for Youth 5-13 years, and is free for Lung Cancer Survivors as well as Children under 5 years; all participants will receive a t-shirt.  To register or make a donation, please visit or call 312-407-6100.

Another new feature this year is a refreshing brunch! The menu includes fruit, assorted muffins and breads, zucchini quiche, Chinese chicken salad, BBQ tri-tip, macaroni salad, juice, and coffee/tea.  Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids (10 and under) if purchased in advance online, or $20/$15 at the event.  Even if you are not up to participating in the 5K, put on your craziest hat or wig, and come join us for brunch.

This annual event supports LUNGevity Foundation, the nation’s leading lung cancer organization investigating lifesaving, translational research and providing support services and education for patients and caregivers. LUNGevity’s goals are three-fold:
  1. Accelerate research to patients
  2. Empower patients to be active participants in their treatment decisions
  3. Remove barriers that patients face in accessing the right treatments.

LUNGevity Foundation is firmly committed to making an immediate impact on increasing quality of life and survivorship of people with lung cancer by accelerating research into early detection and more effective treatments, as well as by providing community, support, and education for all those affected by the disease. LUNGevity’s comprehensive resources include a medically vetted website, the toll-free HELPLine in partnership with CancerCare®, a unique Lung Cancer Navigator app, peer-to-peer mentoring for patients and caregivers (LUNGevity LifeLine), and survivorship conferences. LUNGevity also helps patients find and navigate clinical trials through their online Clinical Trial Finder tool, a Clinical Trial Ambassador program, and participation with EmergingMed. LUNGevity’s vision is a world where no one dies of lung cancer.
