AmadorArts: TGIF Concert features "On Air" - Fri July 5

AmadorArts’ TGIF free concert July 5 will feature “On Air”, voted Sacramento’s #1 premier classic rock band, with sizzling horn section, two years in a row.  On Air has entered its fourth decade.  Few Sacramento or Northern California bands can claim that. On Air is renown for its white hot rock and exciting stage shows featuring tight harmony, screaming horns, and top-drawer choreography. Their renditions of rock classics from groups like Tower of Power, Chicago, Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and more are the real deal. Fans insist on On Air standards like “You’re Still A Young Man,” “Summertime,” “Vehicle,” or “I Wan’na Be Like You.”

The free concert will be in Jackson’s large shady Detert Park alongside Highway 49, starting at 6:00 pm.  Performing the best of ‘70s and ‘80s rock and motown, along with contemporary selections, “On Air” has been featured repeatedly at venues like the Sacramento Music Festival in Old Sacramento, the Old Sacramento Blues Festival, the California State Fair, Stockton Asparagus Festival, and summer concerts throughout the region. They also perform for charity events including Thanksgiving Day Run to Feed the Hungry.

The band “On Air” is back for an encore performance at the free TGIF concert in Jackson July 5.
With 12 musicians total, the “On Air” rhythm section consists of guitarist and founding member Bob Lang who shares vocals with lead guitarist Brian Hack, bass player Tony Oddo, and vocalist Suzanne Weissenberg. Rounding out the rhythm section is Barry Reynolds on keyboards and Geno Guerere on drums.

The unique sound of On Air is found in the distinctive six piece horn section: Brian Nakagawa on trombone, Craig Yamamoto and Raul Sandoval on tenor sax, Brad Tom on baritone sax, and trumpeters Greg Evans, the band’s arranger, and Vahan Kachadorian, who is also a vocalist. Members tend to remain, as nearly half of the musicians have been with the band since or near its inception 40 years ago. Most of the rest have been a part of the group for the better part of the last decade.

Don’t miss this free musical party for everyone! Bring your own chairs or blankets and picnics to the park. Visit for more info about TGIF concerts.
