The Amador Upcountry Rotary Club decided last week to do a wall restoration at the corner of Hwy. 88 and Sugar Pine Drive.
"It was my final project as President of the Club this year, Mike Spence said, "and it was supposed to be fun and inspirational. It turned out to be hotter and harder than expected, taking more than the one day we had planned and more bags of concrete mix than the three upcountry hardware stores even had on hand."
Needed inspiration came from residents who honked and made positive comments while driving by.
"We never expected the outpouring of telephone calls afterwards and the buzz on social media, which made our sore backs and hands feel a lot better," Spence continued. "Most important was the improvement in the overall visibility and future safety of this corner."
Upcountry Rotary meets on the first three Thursdays of each month for dinner at the St. George in Volcano at 6 p.m. All are welcome.
