We are pleased to announce that there is now a Jefferson Youth Council and contrary to public opinion, Jefferson does in fact have a growing number of supporters under the age of 35. In this issue of the Jefferson Messenger, we are pleased to feature some of them, to include Logan McClain, the founder of the new SOJ Youth Council.
It is gratifying to find intelligent young people who have not bought into the liberal diatribe fed to them as students in our public school system, or the left wing indoctrination by professors in the institutes of higher learning. These are young people who are smart enough to recognize and acknowledge that their family members and friends are being hurt by Sacramento with the imposition of more taxes and regulations at every turn. Even more so, they see the risk of losing their basic freedoms; what they say, drive, eat, down to using the wrong pronoun. Every day young people, who have conservative values, are being attacked verbally and even
physically. More than likely, those with the Jefferson Youth Council, have been exposed to our messages for representation, smaller gov-ernment, and that which is guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. So, we would like to express our gratitude to these young people who are willing to stand up, and as Logan says, “amplify the young voices of those within the Jefferson Counties.”
We in turn, must encourage the young people in our counties to join the Youth Council, while at the same time, educate them about Jefferson and involve them in our county meetings, working a booth at special events and even the election process. We should look to them to assist us with technology and social media outreach.

I first heard about Jefferson from our local group in Stanislaus County during the so-called "Gunmageddon" of 2016. I was concerned about California stripping us of our second amendment rights and wanted to take action rather than being a bystander. A friend from church had been telling us about Jefferson and though I thought it was a long shot, I felt it might be a good cause to investigate. I went to my first meeting in April of 2016, and haven't looked back! I've since learned that Jefferson is so much more than second amendment rights. It extends to every part of our government's overreach; guns, health mandates, property taxes. I've learned so much about how our government works and why it's so woefully broken.
Since I first got started, I've partnered with several other members to create a Jefferson-based podcast. I felt it was important to reach my generation as well as the Central Valley. At the time, we had just lost our local conservative radio host, and I felt that was a huge blow to our community. We're still small, but growing consistently and we hope to have a good presence in our local area, as well as across the State of Jefferson. I've also helped out with promotion and coverage of our events on social media. My goal is to reach my generation with the message of Jefferson's freedom and hope.
My financee and I are thrilled to be a part of such a historical time and look forward to the day when our kids can live in the free State of Jefferson. The time has come for 51.

Back in March of 2017, my wife and I were hosting a 2nd amendment walk when we had the opportunity to meet Sally and Terry Rapoza. I had heard about Jefferson before but never had really dug down to the core beliefs that Jefferson stood for. They imparted to me an understanding for the movement and what it meant and it stirred in me a longing for the freedom that I knew growing up that I have seen ripped away and jealousy for the freedoms I've lost prior to even knowing them.
Based on my own core beliefs that I feel to the deepest parts of my being, I know the truth that freedom is not about being governed and taxed, but rather having a free ability to make for yourself the life you want. The left and liberal media, schools, and institutions want the young to believe that our Constitution is a living breathing document that can be changed, shaped or molded at a whim. The truth of the matter is, this is not and never will be the case as it states: “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
We do not have these rights by the Constitution but rather by our Creator that established these laws and the ability for freedom within us. Our founders understood this and wrote our Constitution so that no man, woman or child need to question our "inalienable rights". Since my time finding out about Jefferson I have had the chance to attend many rallies and hosted more myself. I have had the honor to; Speak at the State Capital, The Walk For Life, 40 Days For Life, several Second Amendment Rallies, as well as started my own youtube channel (FireNation).
I for one oppose the corrupt and unconstitutional policies set forth by California and its courts that are in direct violation of our Constitution.
As Jefferson himself said, "I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."

I first heard about the Jefferson movement at our 2nd Amendment rally my husband and I hosted. Rally Sally and Terry asked me if we knew about what they were trying to achieve. I let Sally know that I had not heard of the movement and she explained it to me and asked us to attend a meeting. She gave us her business card, and we were able to make it to one of the state of Jefferson meetings for the first time. We listened to everything that was said and found that we were enthusiastic about this movement. And that very same day my husband David made his first speech for the Jefferson Movement.
I got really involved in every way I could for the simple reason I’ve seen first hand the freedoms we have slipping away. I have been supportive of the movement ever since. Even though I personally have not given speeches, I have supported along with my husband by posting events on social media, spreading the word and showing up to events along with hosting a few of my own that many Jefferson supporters showed up to. I also show support financially in buying their awesome merchandise that I am proud to wear and donating whenever we could on things that they are involved with.
I support Jefferson because I see our state stepping on our rights, taxing us to death and putting its citizens in danger by placing the imagined rights of Illegal Immigrants over its own people. (And before you start saying racist I’m 100% Hispanic First Generation)

I heard about Jefferson by researching the California state history in 2015. I then found quickly that the movement revived recently.
Coming from someone who lived in the Bay Area and was forced out due to high taxation, restriction of rights, etc, I empathized with the movement. I have family and friends who live in rural California whose rights are being taken away from them every day. It made me realized I had to do something about it. I have joined the Placer Committee and created a youth Council for the Jefferson movement to amplify youth voices within the counties involved.
I have an avid interest in history and politics. I am currently going to Sierra College. I enjoy hiking, snowboard, and electronics. I am relatively new to activism but I have an investment in it.

I don't really remember what got me started in the Jefferson movement but, I've been involved basically from the start 5 years ago.
I've done several Rodeo Parades and Christmas Parades in Shasta County. I have also helped with other events here and abroad to help broadcast the vision of a truly sovereign state called Jefferson
I have a young family of four that I would love to see prosper and flourish without tyranny. I long to nurture my kids in a state that won't take them and their parents to the cleaners for raising them to be self sufficient.

The Straw That Broke The Camel's Back
Some Jeffersonians in Shasta County frequent a local restaurant after their Monday night meetings, where they are usually served by the same waitress. The employees at this restaurant have been very good about adhering to the new state law regarding to not automatically provide diners with a plastic drinking straw and waiting to be asked for one. In expectation of her customers asking for a straw, she would carry the straws in the pocket of her apron.
However on a recent visit when the
diners asked for straws, instead of reaching into her pocket, she had to walk to the service counter where the straws were stored to get them.
When asked why she no longer kept them in her pocket, which the diners thought to be a smart idea and a time saver, she said they were not allowed to keep them on their person. Finding out later, this was not mandated from management of the restaurant, but from the State of California.
